I’m either a polymath or a dilettante. One sounds better than the other.

The writing thing may have begun in the backyard. Or when I met Sue Grafton when I was a kid, and she encouraged me to keep writing. Or when I wrote my first novel (a romance!) at the age of fourteen. I still write romance, but I bet you’ll never guess that pen name.

The music thing has been with me for as long as I can remember. I once thought I would be a professional trombone player or a rock star.

Same with the visual art. I once thought I would be a professional illustrator or printmaker. I started drawing as a toddler and never stopped.

I was born in the heart of the Rust Belt and harbor a hesitant affinity for its grit. I play a variety of loud instruments and make drawings and prints (mostly relief). I live in Michigan’s capital city with my partner and at least one too many four-legged creatures. I’m shy and weird and embrace absurdity.
